General description of the dust cover

An excellent dust cover makes the book look old with a great gold leaf effect. Probably the best dust jacket of any James Herbert book. The jacket illustration is credited to Bill Gregory. The story outline is on the front flap of the dust cover as usual. On the rear flap is a paragraph about the author setting out some of his achievements, including the fact that his books have sold 32 million copies. There then follows ones of the best photographs of the author that has been used on his dust jackets, showing him with a huge smile.

The front and rear endpaper has a map of the (fictional) village of Sleath. There are 41 chapters numbered as "1" to "41"

Dedication in book

"For Eileen, without whom ..." (James Herbert's wife)

Roger's Review

Another excellent James Herbert novel. A follow up to "Haunted" but not really a sequel and you certainly don't have to have read the former to enjoy the latter. Genuinely scarely, this book tingles the spine and can be recommened to all as an extremely good read. Gory and gripping. 8 out of 10.
